FEUFOLLET
Deathbed ballads meet glockenspiels and omnichords. Cajun French choruses are written on iPhones. Indie-rock vibes invade Acadian archives. Welcome to the world of Feufollet, a band both deeply rooted in the francophone soil of Louisiana (it calls Lafayette home), and pushing boldly into unexplored yet utterly natural varieties of Cajun experience, led by fiddler and accordionist Chris Stafford. Feufollet translates as “crazy fire,” the term used in western Louisiana for will o’ the wisp, a spectral light seen over swamps. Though famous for their renditions of heartbreaking songs and rollicking tunes, the quintet breaks new ground on En Couleurs (Feufollet Records; June 8, 2010) featuring originals that draw on deep roots tempered by a cutting edge of contemporary life. www.feufollet.net/
Presented in collaboration with Midsummer Night Swing.

SPIROS SOUKIS: ROCKIN' BLUES WITH GREEK SOUL
The music of Spiros Soukis is the blues spiced with funky grooves, shuffle beats, and elements of rock, all enlivened with European style and Mediterranean roots. A native of Athens, Greece, Soukis began his love affair with the blues filtered through the British Invasion and guitar masters Peter Green, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, and Jeff Beck. Reading liner notes and recording credits led him to discover the original men behind the music - B.B. King, Freddie King, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, and many more. In the early '80s, Soukis started to perform and tour with Greek rock legend, Pavlos Sidiroupolos. In the early 90s, he formed the band, That's Why, which performed widely, recorded regularly, and toured extensively. That's Why was the opener for a diverse group of musicians ranging from The Pixies to Peter Green, one of Soukis's earliest influences. www.soukisblues.com

BOILERMAKERS JAZZ BAND
The hot sounds of the jazz age come alive with the Boilermakers Jazz Band. Led by Paul Cosentino on clarinet, the band, veterans of Midsummer Night Swing, serves up swinging renditions of jazz classics and rarities with superb instrumentals and heartfelt vocals. With their unique brand of musical Americana and hot jazz revelry, the Boilermakers bring the party to you. The Boilermakers wide repertoire ranges from classic jazz standards, to old-time ballad, and boogie to a hot jump tune and gritty blues. The Band has performed at major festivals, concert halls, ballrooms, and clubs throughout the world, including The Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland, and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC and now they’re back at Lincoln Center to set the mood for another great summer of dancing. www.boilermakerjazzband.com/
