OVERVIEW

Two internships are available.

Lincoln Center Education (LCE) is the education division of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. For almost 40 years, Lincoln Center Education has been a leader in integrating the arts into school curricula and training teachers to use the arts as a teaching tool in every subject area.

LCE’s mission is to enrich the lives of students, educators, and lifelong learners by providing opportunities for engagement with the arts onstage, in the classroom, digitally and in the community. LCE seeks to achieve its mission using a teaching model through which the study of works of art fosters critical thinking skills that can be applied in school and the workplace; a repertory of works of art in music, theater, dance and the visual arts; and opportunities for engagement on the Lincoln Center campus and via digital technology.

Lincoln Center Education’s Summer Forum Internship – Summer 2018

Approximate dates of Lincoln Center Education’s Summer Forum Internship: June 2018 through mid-August 2018. Hours are flexible in the weeks before and after Summer Forum, but interns must be available to work as many as 8 hours a day, Monday-Friday during Summer Forum from July 9 —July 27.

RESPONSIBILITIES

LCE Summer Forum Interns will work alongside key staff from Education & Community Engagement on a variety of tasks, including:

  • Assisting with all administrative tasks for Summer Forum
  • Assisting with the organization of all Summer Forum materials, ie. name tags, packets, supplies, etc.
  • Supporting the management and production of special events, ie. welcome breakfasts, receptions, off-site dinners
  • Helping to manage lab materials and technical needs
  • Providing event support for the day-to-day operations of Summer Forum
  • Providing front-of-house guidance for participants and guests of Summer Forum
  • Interns will gain an understanding of LCE’s pedagogical approach to aesthetic education through active conversations with LCE Staff and LCE Faculty of Teaching Artists, as well as through the auditing of various Summer Forum labs and repertory performances.

QUALIFICATIONS

This internship might be right for you if you are:

  • Able to bring your own perspective to the team and the work involved
  • Passionate about the performing arts and/or community engagement, education and outreach
  • Energetic, able to show initiative, and creativity
  • A strong communicator and have strong organizational skills with a keen attention to details
  • Comfortable interacting with a broad audience, internal staff, members of the public, and able to represent Lincoln Center at public events
  • Flexible and with a collaborative attitude
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize competing assignments
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, and flexible, with a good sense of humor
  • Passionate about inclusion and advocacy in the arts.
  • Comfortable with and have excellent verbal, face-to-face, written communication skills, research skills, and comfort interacting with the public, in a pleasant, professional manner.

Approximate dates of this internship are June 2018 – August 2018. All internships are paid at $13 per hour. Interns are expected to work 35-40 hours a week for a 12-week period.

Interns must be current students. Recent graduates (December 2017 or May 2018) will be considered on a case by case basis; however, candidates of all ages are encouraged to apply
