OVERVIEW

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival.

In addition, LCPA supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming. Further, LCPA supports initiatives related to events at the David Rubenstein Atrium, LC Kids, as well as numerous key institutional initiatives and projects.
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Temporary Part-Time Public Relations Assistant will play an active role in the work of the Lincoln Center Communications department, with a special emphasis on providing administrative support for our public relations campaigns.

This Temporary Part-Time Public Relations Assistant will work approximately 19 hours per week from January through May of 2018.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Compile and clip press coverage, create and distribute weekly and seasonal clip books to internal stakeholders
• Respond to press ticket requests, as needed, and maintain press ticket books
• Provide press support during events, as needed
• Caption and format photos and other assets
• Keep press lists up to date
• Provide general administrative support, as needed
• Assist with video and photo shoots on campus, as needed
• Assist with developing communications materials, including press releases, media alerts and advisories, and participate in brainstorming sessions during departmental meetings
• Assist in the planning and implementation of publicity campaigns and promotional strategies

QUALIFICATIONS

• 1 – 2 years of experience in public relations within the arts, entertainment industry and/or not-for-profit sector (including internship experience); or, experience working in an industry or institution that presents similar complexities and challenges
• Interest in the performing arts highly preferred
• Excellent administrative skills and computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop
• Excellent proofreading and editing skills
• Superb writing and verbal communication skills
• Must exhibit excellent judgment and flexibility
• High attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must be extremely organized and able to prioritize effectively and meet tight deadlines
• Must be a team player
• Ability to work at night events and weekend events, as needed
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
